What triggers it?
Government decision to block several websites suspected to be used by Malaysians to share or download pirated and illegal media such as movies, songs, etc. Its escalated even more when Anonymous claimed that GOM also blocked Wikileaks websites, which is completely untrue.
How the incident unfolds?
9 June 2011 – Leaked letter from Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commision (MCMC) demanding that all Internet Service Provider (ISP) block several popular websites such as Megaupload, The Pirate Bay, etc, used to host pirated and illegal media.
Appears on ‘Only In Malaysia’ Facebook page.

9 June 2011 – Facebook page ‘1M Malaysians Don’t Want SKMM Block File Sharing Websites’ launched and gain many supporters. Appears Malaysian public opposed GOM decision to block those websites.

10 June 2011 – MCMC pressured to explain its action to block those websites
